Team Rankings

1. Team Texas

A win in the Texas Police Games over San Antonio Law and a strong finish at the Police World Series Majors Division in Las Vegas. So far still the best team in Texas police softball but, and there is a big but. Anybody who plays police softball in this state knows the police games are rigged. The director of softball always gives Team Texas a pass and an easy bracket and let the other teams beat each other up, and this year was no different. The sad thing is Team Texas does not need it. We can only hope the best team in Texas stands up to the management and proves they really are the best team in June in Ft. Worth. 2016 Policesoftball.com Mid-Majors World Champions.

2. San Antonio Law

Silver at the Texas Police Games in Plano after having to run the gauntlet of the real bracket. The Law had a rough go at the World Series in Las Vegas, but still managed to beat Team Texas even though they finished lower when it was all said and done. They host a great tournament, and play like family, the most storied team in Texas Police softball history. Since 1988. 2016 Policesoftball.com Gold Division World Champions.

3. Lone Star

The 2017 Police Softball Gold Division World Champions. This was a big year for the artist formerly known as the cartel. Lone Star finished third at the Texas police games, behind the aforementioned Team Texas and the Law. The Law proved they finish and beat Lone Star twice on walk offs. Lone Star recovered and finished second at Cade Hall’s Guns and Hoses Championship. Lone Star finished the year winning the show in the Gold Division at the Police World Series earning a promotion to the Majors division. The pieces have been found and June will be very interesting for Police softball in Texas.

4. Team Louisiana

The family as I have decided to name them had the best year in its history with a 3rd place finish at the World Series. An epic showdown with Lone Star was on the horizon but honestly, they had to play too many games and ran out of gas. Jody White has the best pitcher in police softball with Doyle Westbrook. The team is loaded with stud hitters top to bottom. You heard it here first the 2018 Police Softball.com Gold Division World Champions.

5. DFW Metro Fire

The best run and built Firefighter Softball Team in the state. This team is tough, travels, and takes all comers. They finished second at the big one in Las Vegas, fourth behind three World Champion Police Teams at the Police games, and third at their Guns and Hoses Tournament. They can beat anybody. Consistency if the key with this team. When DFW is on the score by the truckload.

6. Dallas Fire Axemen

We say this every year. If these dudes played, more they would be at the top of the rankings. Waylon Rhyne’s boys are so talented, the hardly play softball and are still in the Top 5. They won the Guns and Hoses beating Lone Star. The DFD Baseball team won the public safety national championship with some of these players against the always-tough NYPD. It truly would be scary to see if this team played more. Johnny Espree, Calvert, the Grimlinger Bros, and Burcie, should invest one year to traveling and playing nothing but softball just to see how good they could really be.

7. Texas Guns

The darlings of Policesoftball.com had a tougher sophomore year. They Guns did not play very well but still managed a 3rd place finish in the Silver Division. This team is the future and honestly if they were in any other state would probably be a top team. The competition in this state will make this team stronger and I predict a Policesoftball.com World Champion in the future. They just have to stay together.

8. Austin Bullets

This is as solid and historic a team as any in Texas police softball. The team has been around almost as long as the Law has and competes every year. They finished fifth behind DFW Metro at the Police games. The Bullets have the talent to beat anybody and have before.

9. Laredo Heat

This good team does not quit. Juan Yancy and his bunch have beaten some of the best teams in the state but rarely have the same squad from tournament to tournament. The team would be dangerous if they had consistent and committed lineup to depend on. The talent this team have carried them a long way.

10. McAllen Lock and Load

This is a great group of guys that have been around for a while. They have gotten a bit older but still have a lot of talent. The Heat wants to win and quite honestly, the most untapped market for talent in this state is in the Rio Grande Valley. The next step for this team is tapping the that talent and showing it off in Ft. Worth in June.
